Synology® Announces the Official Release of Synology Assistant, Introducing Linux Version, Multiple Disk Station Installation, Resource Monitor and More
Taipei, Taiwan—October 1, 2009—Synology® Inc. today announced the official release of its Synology Assistant, introducing Linux version, multiple Disk Station installation, resource monitor and several enhancements of the management UI. "In addition, the official release also includes support for the latest Mac OS, Snow Leopard," said Edward Lin, marketing director of Synology.
The Linux version of Synology Assistant is designed for Ubuntu distribution. In addition to the existing Windows and Mac version, users can now install Synology Assistant on Linux environment.
Installing system firmware for a batch of Disk Stations simultaneously is now possible. The batch installation function makes it easier and more time-saving for deploying multiple Disk Stations in a network. Installation status of each Disk Station is clearly displayed during the process to ensure a successful installation.
With Synology Assistant, users can now monitor CPU usage, memory usage, network flow and volume usage of multiple Disk Stations. Without logging into DSM 2.2 management UI, all statistics are displayed on a well-organized panel for easy access, greatly eliminating administrative efforts.
Synology Assistant also includes several UI enhancements. The application window is now resizable, and the Disk Stations listed can now be sorted by different attributes such as server name, or IP address. The configurable language setting now allows users to use the new Synology Assistant in the language they are familiar with. The Synology Assistant is compatible with Windows 2000 onward, Mac OS X 10.3 onward and Linux Ubuntu 8 and 9.

3. Batch Disk Station Installation: Installing firmware for multiple un-configured Disk Stations on a batch basis is now available.
4. UI Enhancements:
   • Resizable window: The application window is now resizable to fit user's preference.
   • Search progress bar: A search progress bar is now shown at the bottom of the application window.
   • Sort-able attributes: Disk Stations listed are now able to be sorted by different attributes such as server name or IP address.
   • Preferences: The Preferences page allows you to change the application display language, set the start page and enable memory test function.

Special Notes

1. OS Support:
   • Windows 2000 onward
   • Mac OS X 10.3 onward
   • Linux Ubuntu 8, 9
2. Resource Monitor and memory test functions are available only on Disk Station with firmware DSM 2.2-0914 and onward.
3. The Linux version is optimized for Ubuntu distribution version 8 and 9. Users can still try it on other Linux distributions for evaluation purpose only.
4. Memory test tool is designed for system diagnosis purpose.

Ja, so ein Klump, da war ich gerade am kopieren, drück auf Speichertest und Zack, übernimmt eine 3. Hand die kontrolle mit Neustart, neuer IP und jede Menge Durcheinander.

Steht aber in den Release Notes, dass dies nur für Diagnosezwecke ist ...
Ich hätts dir auch sagen können. Hab das vorher schon mal probiert

Ist inwischen geklärt, wo das Ergebis des Tests landet?
In der Beta war nach dem Test einfach Schluss, ohne Rückmeldung über Erfolg/Mißerfolg.

Ist ein RAM-Test. Alias Memtest86. Also unabhängig von den Platten.

Leider funktioniert der neue DSAssistant 1061 nicht bei mir. Er kann keine Station finden und ich weiß leider nicht, wieso, da ich keine Veränderung an der Station selbst und auch keine besonderen Einstellungen vorgenommen habe. Weiß jemand, woran das liegen könnte?

Die Daten sind alle richtig eingetragen und sobald ich auf Verbinden gehe kommt folgendes:

Lösung: In den Einstellungen (Blaues Symbol rechts oben unterhalb des Synology Schriftzuges) statt dem vorgegebenen Port 80 einfach Port 5000 Eintragen und auf Verbinden gehen. Schon geht zumindest der Resourcen-Monitor.

Bei mir findet der neue Assistent meine DS auch nicht mehr. Jemand eine Idee? Wie mein Vorredner nutze ich auch ein MacBook.

Hast du denn schon auf Port 5000 umgestellt wie dein Vorredner? Wo genau liegt das Problem: Findet er die DS gar nicht oder kann er sich nur nicht zwecks Resourcen Monitor etc verbinden?

Die Porteinstellung ist ja nur für den Ressourcen-Monitor notwendig. Ich bekomme unter Verwaltung die Meldung:

Synology-Server kann auf dem lokalen Netzwerk nicht gefunden werden. Bitte stellen Sie sicher, dass:
1. Der Synology Assistant wurde nicht von der Firewall Ihres Computer-Betriebssystems oder einer Antivirus-Anwendung blockiert.
2. Synology-Server und Ihr Computer sind beide mit dem Netzwerk verbunden.
3. Sie haben den Strom für Synology-Server eingeschaltet.

Mit dem alten Assistent hat es funktioniert. Auch über den Finder (Arbeitsplatz bei Win) meines MacBooks kann ich wie eh und je auf meine DS und die Ordner zugreifen.
