Surveillance Station New iPhone App for Surveillance Station (NS cam)

Hello,

I do not know if some have the same need that me, I want to stop or start Surveillance Station. I want to avoid being flooded with alarms if I go rather to the house.
Of course, there are time slots in Surveillance Station, but I am not able to return perfectly on time at home.

So I made an iPhone application to complement DS Cam. She can stop and start the cameras in monitoring station.

Great App! Exactly what I was looking for, since I use the Suveillance Station.
But there is one question. I set a security code in the NS Cam Package. Is there a way to reset the code if I don't wanna use it?

Hello,

absolut great app. Exact what i'm looking for. But it doesn't seem to work with DSM 4.2 and the last Surveillance Station 6.0-2383.
Can someone please confirm, if this is a problem with my environment or with the app?
If i install NS Cam 2 and send a stop from the iphone, the whole surveillance station isn't reachable. I get the error "the service is now deactivated" ("Der Dienst ist jetzt deaktiviert" in german) I have to stop and restart the surveillance station in the packet management to get access again.

That's right. The Package doesn't seem to be compatible with DSM 4.2 at the moment. I contacted the developer of the package but no reply so far.
Maybe you should also write him a mail. Just to let him know I am not the only one using his package...

I've wrote him an email before this post and he answered within 3 hours. A absolute great service for an absolute awesome app.
So i see you also use the app. I have one question: If you send a stop from the app, is it normal that you can't access the surveillance station form the DSM? I get again the message "Service is now deactivated". But if I send a "start" from the app, I can access the Surveillance Station again. Is this the expected behavior? Don't get me wrong: It's not a problem for me, because the app does what I need. But I thought the app would just stop the cam, not the surveillance station. Or am I wrong?

Ich denke mal, wir können hier auf Deutsch weiter schreiben.

Ich hab bei mir genau das gleiche Verhalten. Wenn ich über die App einen OFF-Befehl sende, komme ich über den DSM nicht mehr auf die Surveillance Station. Obwohl im Paket-Manager angezeigt wird, dass die SS noch läuft. Ich weiß auch nicht genau, was da mit der App genau gestoppt wird.
Bei mir ist es auch so dass, wenn ich über die App OFF sende und die Diskstation neu starte, die Kameras wieder aufzeichnen.

Zusätzlich habe ich heute zwei-dreimal beobachtet, dass die Kameras nach einigen Stunden automatisch wieder aufzeichnen, obwohl ich sie über die App eigentlich ausgeschaltet hatte. Scheint wohl noch nicht ganz so fehlerfrei zu funktionieren.

ich habe dem Entwickler bereits geschrieben, ob das so gewollt ist oder nicht.
Du hattest doch die Lösung auch schon vor DSM 4.2 im Einsatz, oder? Wir war es dann da? Wurde dort nur die Kamera deaktiviert?
Interessant ist, dass die App das rote Symbol anzeigt, wenn man die Kamera manuell im Webinterface deaktiviert. Also scheint die App wohl tatsächlich auf die Kamera zu gucken, aber aus irgendwelchen Gründen blockt sie den komplettem Zugang, wenn man die Kamera über die App deaktivieren will. Das mit dem selbstständigen aktivieren trotz deaktivierung in der App konnte ich bisher nicht nachvollziehen.
Für mich ist daher die App momentan durchaus für den Einsatz geeignet. Besser wäre es natürlich, wenn sie nur die Kamera (de)aktiviert und mehr nicht.
Aber ehrlich gesagt sehe ich hier auch Synology in der "Pflicht", solch eine Option in die "DS Cam" App zu integrieren. Ich werde mal den Support nach einer entsprechenden Unterstützung der Funktion fragen.

Ich hab's heute noch mal ausprobiert. Wenn ich die Surveillance Station (oder die Kameras - weiß wie gesagt nicht, was die App da genau deaktiviert) ausschalte, aktiviert sich das Ganze nach ein paar Stunden ohne Zutun wieder von selbst. Hab den Entwickler deswegen auch eben kontaktiert. Mal sehen...

Und ich gebe Dir Recht, es sollte eigentlich möglich sein, die Kameras oder die Aufzeichnung per DS Cam App zu steuern. Hab diesbezüglich Synology auch grad mal angeschrieben. Mal sehen...

zwischen ausschalten mit der App und erneutem einschalten lagen bei mir heute ca. 8 Stunden, ohne dass sich etwas von selbst aktiviert hat. Wie schnell passiert das bei dir so in der Regel?

Ich hatte heute morgen die Kamera über die App beendet. Danach ist mir aufgefallen, dass mein NAS kurze Zeit später in den Standby gegangen ist. Eigentlich ist es ja so, dass dies nicht mehr geschieht, sobald die Surveillance Station läuft.
Nun weiß ich nicht, ob ich den Standby Zustand der Art und Weise zu verdanken habe, wie die App die Surveillance Station beendet, oder ob der Standby Zustand auch eintritt, wenn man die Kamera manuell über das Webinterface deaktiviert.
Egal wie: Gefällt mir, dass ich doch nicht komplett auf Standby verzichten muss, da die Kamera momentan nur zu 50% des Tages aktiv läuft.

Also ich konnte das Problem jetzt ein klein bisschen einkreisen.
Wenn ich über die App das "OFF" gesendet habe, zeichnen die Kameras nicht mehr auf. Die DS geht dann auch wieder in den Ruhezustand. Soweit so gut.
Wenn die DS dann aber aus irgendwelchen Gründen aus dem Ruhezustand aufgeweckt wird, starten die Kameras auch wieder mit der Aufnahme. Die App zeigt dann als Status "ON". Dasselbe, wenn ich "OFF" gesendet habe und die DS reboote.
Da der Entwickler auf meine letzte Anfrage leider nicht reagiert hatte, habe ich ihm jetzt erneut eine Mail mit meinen Erkenntnissen gesendet. Mal schauen, ob er reagiert.
Es ist ja schön, wenn man für solche Tools nichts bezahlen muss. Leider ist man dann aber sehr auf die "Gnade" des Entwicklers angewiesen, was den Support angeht.

Ich betreibe übrigens vier Foscams an meiner SS. Ich glaube die 212j hat auch einen anderen Prozessor als die 212+. Vielleicht tritt das Problem deshalb bei Dir nicht auf (Vermutung aus der Laiensphäre...)
