8 March 2012 - Zarafa Announces Collaboration With NAS Server Vendor Synology®
Allowing small businesses to implement groupware with excellent backup and low maintenance costs
At CeBIT (Hannover, Germany), industry’s biggest international digital event, Zarafa today announced the collaboration with Synology, the leading vendor of NAS servers. From March 13, 2012 Zarafa’s open source groupware and collaboration software will be ready to install on Synology DiskStations.
Since the launch of version 7 of Zarafa’s Collaboration Platform (ZCP), businesses can benefit from the full support of UTF-8 (Unicode). The cooperation between Zarafa and Synology will enable millions of Synology customers in Asia, Europe and other continents to benefit from premier collaboration technology, including Zarafa’s mobile calendar push technology for iPhones and Android based phones.
Installed with the Zarafa package, a Synology DiskStation can work as a groupware server to provide a cost-effective yet easy-to-use collaboration solution. John Duurkoop, Sales Director Zarafa says: “By offering email and calendar solutions in a NAS server, Synology allows small businesses to implement a groupware system with excellent backup and low maintenance costs. It will only take a few clicks to install the Zarafa package in the Synology package center, which simplifies the process of building a groupware server."
Business users can leverage functionalities available in a Synology NAS server to optimize their groupware system. Different types of RAID volumes protect business-critical groupware data against disk failure. Designed with energy efficiency in mind, Synology NAS servers not only offer 24/7 access to users’ groupware system, but can also significantly reduce their energy bills (and CO2 footprint).
